Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 2026

At PDF Unlocker ("we," "us," or "our"), your privacy is our fundamental priority. We engineered our platform specifically to eliminate the privacy risks associated with traditional online document editors. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding data handling, browser-based processing, and the limited information we may collect when you visit our website.

1. Document Processing and File Handling

We do not upload, transmit, or store your documents.

Our core utility, the PDF Unlocker, operates entirely within your local web browser. When you select a file using our interface, the file is read directly into your device's random access memory (RAM) using standard HTML5 Web APIs. All parsing, decryption, and reconstruction algorithms are executed locally by your device's CPU via client-side JavaScript.

Because the processing happens locally:

  • Your files never traverse the internet to reach our servers.
  • We have no ability to view, analyze, or retain your documents.
  • Once you close your browser tab, all temporary memory associated with the document is purged by your operating system.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Because we utilize a static, serverless architecture for our core tools, we inherently do not collect:

  • The contents of your PDF files.
  • Passwords you enter to decrypt your files (these are processed locally in RAM and immediately discarded).
  • Document metadata (such as author names, titles, or creation dates).

3. Information We May Collect

To maintain and improve the website, we may collect minimal, non-personally identifiable information through standard server logs provided by our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages). This may include:

  • Browser type and version.
  • Operating system.
  • Referring website addresses.
  • Timestamps of page requests.

This data is used strictly for technical monitoring, ensuring server stability, and basic traffic analysis. It is not linked to any personal identity or document processing activity.

4. Cookies and Third-Party Analytics

Our platform is designed to function without the use of invasive tracking cookies. We do not use third-party advertising networks or advanced behavioral analytics scripts that track you across the internet. If we implement basic traffic analytics in the future, we will utilize privacy-respecting, cookieless solutions, and this policy will be updated accordingly.

5. Third-Party JavaScript Libraries

To perform complex PDF manipulations locally, we utilize open-source JavaScript libraries, primarily pdf-lib. These libraries are served directly to your browser as static assets. They do not communicate with external servers or "phone home" with any data regarding your usage.

6. Contacting Us

If you choose to contact us via email, we will solely use your email address and any information you provide to respond to your inquiry. We do not sell, rent, or share your contact information with marketing agencies or third parties.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our technology or legal requirements. We encourage you to review this page occasionally. Your continued use of the website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
